Developed by PlatinumGames, Bayonetta has the creator of the Devil May Cry series, Hideki Kamiya, behind the game as the game’s director keeping an ever watchful eye to put forward an entertaining action game.

Bayonetta is actually the name of the main character who turns out to be a witch on the hunt of heavenly creatures who have appeared in the world suddenly. Tearing the enemies a part, Bayonetta collects the halos of her fallen enemies and will be able to upgrade her attributes.

The odd thing about Bayonetta is that she uses her hair for a lot of combat by sending it through a portal and when it reenters the world, the hair is super aggressive as it attacks the enemies in special attacks. In one instance, Bayonetta grabs a hold of a mini-boss through a recreated gigantic looking tiger that came through a portal that was made up of her hair. The mini-boss was already huge on the screen, but this recreation shadowed over the mini-boss and took several bites out of it before eventually spitting it out. And we’re not kidding about the size; the gigantic tiger looked like the tiger head that represented the exterior of the Cave of Wonders from Disney’s Aladdin.

While only providing a short five minute demonstration of this exciting title, PlatinumGames was able to convey how violent the game with dismemberments of enemies and non-stop action. Although they wouldn’t comment on the specifics of the storyline, soundtrack, weapons or length, Bayonetta is still shaping up to be a stellar game. Bayonetta will be shipping in 2009 on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
